How to find us
St Ebbe’s is located in Pennyfarthing Place in the centre of Oxford, on the corner of St Ebbe’s Street (see the MAP).
By car: Parking: Unfortunately there is no parking on Sundays at the church and the nearby multi-storey car park of the Westgate Centre is currently closed for a major re-development.
The closest alternative is Oxpens car park (OX1 1RQ), located on Oxpens Road next to Oxford Ice Rink (see image below). It can be accessed from the south via Abingdon Road, Thames Street and Oxpens Road. From the north via Hythe Bridge Street and Oxpens Road. From the west via Botley Road and Oxpens Road. Further information is available on the City Council website.
The car park is roughly ten minutes’ walk from St Ebbe’s, turning right out of the car park along the A420/Thames Street and then left onto Old Greyfriars Street. Continue northwards on Old Greyfriars’ Street before turning right onto Pike Terrace, which should be followed round to the left where it joins Turn Again Lane. Almost directly opposite is an alleyway named Roger Bacon Lane, which leads to Pennyfarthing Place with the main entrance of the church on the right.
The City of Oxford College also offers parking at weekends and is located opposite the Oxpens car park, see the College website for more details. Slightly further away on Osney Lane, there is also a UPark car park (see the UPark website for more details).
If you are coming to see a staff member during the week, regrettably we are often unable to offer parking spaces. Please ring the church office to ask about car parking at the church.
Due to the lack of convenient local parking whilst the Westgate car park is closed, we would strongly encourage all visitors to consider coming to St Ebbe’s via one of the alternative means outlined below:
By bus: There are five Park and Ride sites around the edge of the city which will drop you off near Carfax, the historic crossroads at Oxford centre. Two minutes’ walk down Queen Street, left into St Ebbe’s Street and right into Pennyfarthing Place will bring you to the door. See the City Council website for more information about Park and Ride or phone 01865 785400.
By bike: secure rails for locking your bike are located outside the church.
By train: Oxford station is within easy walking distance of the church and should take between 10 and 15 minutes. Turn left out of the station car park onto a busy main road. Cross the road and take the road ahead and to the right — Park End Street. Continue along this road, going straight onto New Road at some traffic lights. At the top of the hill go straight into Queen Street (no cars but lots of buses). Turn right into St Ebbe’s Street and right again into Pennyfarthing Place and walk between Camera and the church. The main entrance is on the left.
