How to find us
St Ebbe’s is located in Pennyfarthing Place in the centre of Oxford, on the corner of St Ebbe’s Street.
Parking: Unfortunately there is no parking on Sundays at the church but the Westgate multi-storey car park is very close by. Levels 3B and 4A are most popular as they are closest to the Westgate access which leads through the shopping centre and out the other side, past Sainsbury’s, to Pennyfarthing Place and the church.
If you are coming to see a staff member during the week, regrettably we are often unable to offer parking spaces. Please ring the church office to ask about car parking at the church. Alternatively you might like to use the Park and Ride service which is very good.
Directions to the church:
From M40 South:
Leave the M40, junction 8, and proceed along the A40. When you come to a large roundabout (Green Road Roundabout) turn left onto the Ring Road. Continue on this road, going straight over each roundabout, until you get to Kennington Roundabout. At this roundabout turn right (signposted city centre/Grandpont). Continue down this road (Abingdon Road) until you come to a small bridge over the river. Turn left here, past the no-right turn, right at the lights, immediately right at the junction and then immediately left into Albion Place. Continue round on this road, which becomes St Ebbe’s Street and and then turn left into Pennyfarthing Place. Use the buzzer at the main glass doors to contact the office.
From M40 North:
Leave the M40 at junction 9 and follow signs to Oxford City Centre. At the roundabout with a large BP petrol station on the right go straight on (onto Woodstock Road). Continue to the end (down St Giles) and follow the one way system right into Beaumont Street (past the Randolph Hotel) and left at the traffic lights at the end (opposite Worcester College). Continue following the one way system over the canal and turn left at the traffic lights (at the Royal Oxford Hotel). Continue straight on past the ice rink on the right and go straight on at the first traffic lights. At the second traffic lights, turn left and, immediately right at the junction and then immediately left into Albion Place. Continue round on this road, which becomes St Ebbe’s Street and and then turn left into Pennyfarthing Place (between Camera and the church). Use the buzzer at the main glass doors to contact the office.
By bus: the Park and Ride services from the edge of town will
drop you off near Carfax, the historic crossroads at Oxford centre. Two minutes’ walk down Queen Street, left into St Ebbe’s Street and right into Pennyfarthing Place will bring you to the door. For more information about Park and Ride or phone 01865 785400.
By bike: secure rails for locking your bike are located outside the church.
By train: Oxford station is within easy walking distance of the church and should take between 10 and 15 minutes. Turn left out of the station car park onto a busy main road. Cross the road and take the road ahead and to the right — Park End Street. Continue along this road, going straight onto New Road at some traffic lights. At the top of the hill go straight into Queen Street (no cars but lots of buses). Turn right into St Ebbe’s Street and right again into Pennyfarthing Place and walk between Camera and the church. The main entrance is on the left.
To reach the Rectory, turn left just before the Westgate Shopping Centre into a small alley (Roger Bacon Lane) and ring the door bell on the door half way down (2 Roger Bacon Lane).
