Richard hails from Scotland, and became a Christian as a teenager on a camp in the Highlands. After studying history at Cambridge as an undergraduate, he moved to Japan, where he lived for just over 7 years. Richard has been married to Yuko since 2003, and they have two children. Together they went to Bible College in Glasgow, and Richard later graduated from Japan Bible Seminary in Tokyo. He has worked as a teacher, a fishmonger, a cheesemonger, and a tax accountant in the City of London (not at the same time). Richard is passionate about sharing the gospel with Japanese people (although not only with Japanese people!), and teaching the Bible. Richard serves as a Network Partner with Japan Christian Link. He would like to spend more time on the golf course, but since moving to Oxford mostly settles for long walks along the canal.
