Serving and Summer

A key part of being part of a church family is to get involved with serving them. We always need loads of help at Ebbe’s and there are a number of ways you can do that. We are always in need of people to help with catering and washing up for the various events that we put on throughout the week (like Focus, iFocus, Student Lunch, Explore and Christianity Explored). Other areas where we would love students to get involved with are creche (either on Sunday or midweek), gardening, with our music on Sundays or with IT and design. In particular, the office at Ebbe’s is always very appreciative of any help that is offered. If you’d like to get serving in any of these areas please email Sharon.

The summer is an excellent opportunity to serve the Lord Jesus. We reckon that a great way to put your summer to use is to go on a summer camp or a short-term mission.

Camps are a great way to learn to serve like Jesus, to be taught really well from the Bible, and to have brilliant time too. There are a number of camps that happen throughout the summer that we support and where you can go and be part of the student team. Usually that means helping to serve a bunch of 14-18yr olds by doing a bit of cooking, cleaning, washing up, and occasionally running some games, so that they can have a great holiday and freeing up the leaders to teach the Bible and to build up relationships with the kids. They’ll be lots of opportunities to be taught the Bible yourself as well, and maybe even to lead some Bible studies of your own.

If you’d like some more info, do email Sharon.

Summer teams are a way to experience what mission work abroad can be like. They’ll be some more information about this at Christmas.
