I grew up in a Christian home where I was taught about the person of Jesus and that he died on the cross for me. Although I did always believe the claims that were made about Jesus and that the Bible was the word of God, I have not always been sure of what this might mean in practice for my life. As a teenager, I never stopped to think about this and so my Christianity remained for the most part, head knowledge. After taking part in a discipleship course during my years at university, some truths from the Bible really came together both in my mind and in my heart that Jesus was not merely a part of my life, but instead was life itself. This is a concept that was well illustrated for me in the verse in Acts 17:28 that says “for in Him we live and move and have our being”.
I thank God for revealing these truths to me and for continuing to do so as I look to Him and seek wisdom in guidance. Following Jesus has made a real difference in my life to where my hope rests completely in Him. I am confident in the fact that Jesus has died and has risen again to take away my sin, and that through Him and by the power of his Holy Spirit, He is working His purposes out in me. His Living Word, the Bible, is filled with so many pieces of advice to learn from and to grow spiritually.
I am infinitely grateful for Christ’s death on the cross so that sinners like myself may go live life to the full, for there is no greater love than this. Does all this mean that all has become easy or that I have it all together? No. But it does mean that my life in the hands of the One who does, and that is the best place to be.
